bloodbone, despite your warning I decided to pre-order at BB today - I was 4th in line to order, they did not give an appointment but said they'd call a day or 2 early to schedule me.
With regards to porting the number I asked you about before, they said they couldn't check the note on the account without our corporate account number - can you confirm that? I gave them the phone number & told them it was on Verizon, but they said they couldn't check it using the phone number and needed the corporate account number. Work says they won't give it to me, and insists they never give it to any employee and that it's never been a problem before. I just feel like I'm going to get caught in the middle on launch day and that they're not going to want to spend anytime working out issues since they'll be dealing with so many customers.
Can you just confirm whether the corporate account number is necessary, or can they check it by just using the phone number? I just want to know who I need to press, work to give me the number or BB to convince them they don't need it.

Unfortunately the patent specifically stated "Mechanical overlay" with no mention of a touch screen. I agree, that would be the way to go in order to implement it, but the patent says nothing of the sort.

OK yes this is for mechanical overlay not touch screen. Hasn't apple already got the equivalent patents for touch screen (at least in an ipod-like device)?

If you had a 30 minute commute each way to work, you are looking at (roughly) going over your allowance in a month (AT&T USA) without any other data usage. (60 mins x 20 days = 2,250MB ).
I'm not sure this is sustainable unless the telecom providers stop putting small data caps on usage...

This is better than an iPod/iPhone... How? Or not even better -- this is a useful supplement how?

As touch-based input, it would be amazing. As a physical swapping, not so much. Remember that you'd have to bring the modules with you if you wanted to use it on the go, which would defeat the purpose of having an internal component. At home, you're better off to have an external music keyboard/mixer/whatever, because it can be whatever size is most appropriate. If you use your computer with a mixer in place of the keyboard and then plug in an external keyboard, why not just use an external mixer? Sure, there are some people (DJs or whatever) that won't need to type while they use the alternate modules, but they're by far in the minority of an already niche market. Also, if you swap in a joystick in place of your trackpad, how would you close the lid? :D

I've been reading through this thread and noticed how nearly everyone is focused on Apple entering the "cell phone" market. I can't believe how the majority of you actually feel that Apple will make a cell phone? And you're all going to ditch your RAZR when it comes out...
Apple is not going to, and will never, enter the cell phone market. Now now, calling Budweiser a beer is a stretch as it is and calling it a lager is an insult to any properly brewed lager out there. Like someone else in this thread stated before it's a cheap diluted ricewine with hops added for something pretending to be taste. As for Chimay, never had it but if it is in the same range of products as that .... stuff.... from Anheusser operates in, it probably isn't a belgium ale either.....

Also, as has been pointed out, the iMacs are not that overpriced; especially given the cost of 27" IPS displays.
That said, people have always assumed cinema displays to be more overpriced than they actually were, if only because they weren't making like-for-like comparisons. It's less true now that LCD prices have been adjusted downwards after the price-fixing scandal, but a Dell 27" IPS display is still pretty expensive.
I'm not saying that doesn't have high prices - they do - but very frequently, people are not making a like-for-like comparison. Most notably in screens. I don't know of any iPad competitors that use IPS displays, and make no mistake: IPS displays are more expensive than the competition. Most people also don't care about display technology, but it matters to people in the photo/video field.
All that matter is GROSS MARGINS on the financial reports. Apple's gross margins far exceed dell or hp's gross margins. HENCE, apple is making more profit for any piece of equipment they sell. The prices could be lower, but they are going to charge higher because they can charge higher, and people will still buy them. I wonder how many people here really can read a financial statement from a corporation. The answers are there, not in component costs. It is basic business to any MBA.

well, if i got asked like that.. i will ask if they have any proof or not, and you can show them what are you doing that time, cuz that's strange.. schools' in my country usually forbid cellphone, but they could never forbid laptops, why? everytime we use their computer, it's so damn slow.. well, i think it's better to get suspended for like 1 day than giving away your mac, and risking your $1000++

I think they should add a "buy a new mac" button on the crash dialogue that takes you to the online apple store. Maybe even a splash page that says "Old mac crashing too much? Try one of these new babies!"
No, they should make a "Gadget" for Windows Vista so when it crashes, the Gadget pops up recommending that the user buy a Mac.

The guy who pierced my tongue told me he does the prince albert (penis piercing) as well. He said the first one he did was on himself - ouch. He said he lost a ton of blood and later that night he and his wife went to Lounge Ax - a (defunct) local music club. Either you really have a 5G iPod or you have a crap battery they should last around 4-6 hours.
I just had my 5G iPod replaced about a month ago. This iPod is one of the newer iPods that just came out.
I have followed the Apple instructions to not use the equalizer, low light resolution, and try not to manuever the menus too much while playing the video, and that is what gets me to about 1:45 minutes.
I use my iPod daily (M-F), and I charge it daily (M-F). I think the high usage is also the reason why my battery life is so low.
But isn't the iPod made for this type of usage???
